HR Peep Show: An origin story

Everyone thinks that HR is all cloaks and daggers. What if we let people peek behind the curtain of how decisions are made?
Many years ago, Krista Lane, SPHR changed how I see People Operations. Before, there were only tasks. After, I understood that building an organization takes just as much skill and systems thinking building a product.
At the time, I was in-house at a growing startup. We were one of Krista's first clients.
Jobs don't last forever. When I left that one, I sent Krista the usual, "I've moved on. Let me know if you hear about anyone looking for whatever-it-is-that-I-do."
At the time, I was burned out and butt-hurt. Krista helped me find my next job, but she also helped me through the rebound from the last one. As a friend.
And here we are, years later. Still talking about building systems to improve people orgs. Still deconstructing office politics to find the insights to make the workplace a better place. Now with a third musketeer, AnnE Diemer.
Earlier this year, someone had an idea. "What if we brought more people into the conversation? What if we... started a podcast?"
Turns out, podcasting is harder than it looks. Especially for three neurodivergent oddballs who shy away from attention. I, for one, will never be trusted to use a Figma stamp without supervision ever again.
But we had ideas to share.
Give it a listen:
