I’ve worked on the payroll of more than 100 different companies.
There’s one question I get all the time.
What’s the difference between gross and net pay?

It’s easy:
🪰 Gross pay is the one with flies around it.
🦋 Net pay is the one with butterflies in it.
You’re welcome.
All this month I’ll be geeking out on payroll matters.
Not just for payroll admins. For anyone who gets paid.
If you get a paycheck and pay taxes, there will probably be something that applies to you.
Each week, I’ll dive into a different theme on Substack.
If you want the real-real on what’s going on behind your paystub
or suspect there may be something “off” about your pay
and want the tools to go to battle with HR
why don’t you go ahead and subscribe?
